“Iran has all but agreed that Brazil should be the mediator between Tehran and the United Nations – rather than the axis of the US, Britain and France inside the UN Security Council, plus Germany – to finally settle the Iranian nuclear dossier. According to the Fars news agency, after his visit early this week to New York, Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad, in a phone call with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, told him that Iran had agreed with the Brazilian proposal for a nuclear fuel swap deal for the Tehran research reactor, which produces medical isotopes for cancer treatment. The proposal will be discussed in detail when Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva visits Tehran by the end of next week.”
As I read and watch videos about successful entrepreneurs, this same question pops up in my head. Was the cause of this persons success due more to to this person being an egghead, or them being passionate and driven? Leonard Brody eloquently answers this question by intelligence is a commodity- you hire smart people- but passion is the driving force. When I look at the Forbes Richest people list many of them were college drop outs and some never finished high school. I have no doubt this these people aren’t all intelligent, their success was due more to the fact that they had a passion to succeed or fear of failure.
There’s a good article on Street Capitalist which underscores this point. The author writes about Warren Buffet talking about Rose Blumkin who had a grade school education but was able to turn her investment of $500 into the biggest furniture store in North America.
I get lulz imagining Sean Hannity back at FOX studios showing Bill O’reilly and Glenn Beck how he tricked T-Pain. I got even greater lulz at the 14 second mark.
Two observations: 1. To avoid an argument, you can just say someone’s “oblivious” instead of calling them “stupid” .
I saw this interesting discussion on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart last month about how Running Shoes are actually counterproductive because humans were really meant to run barefoot. This guy Christopher McDougal went to a remote cave in Mexico where he saw a tribe called the Tarahumara Indians who run hundreds of miles non stop- in sandals.
Vodpod videos no longer available.
This is the Vibram Five Fingers , a shoe designed to mimic running barefoot while still protecting your foot bottom.
The New York Yankees Empire wins again, this time against the Phillies.
Speaking of crying when for first victories, I didn’t cry when we elected our first black president but I’ll probably cry if the Philadelphia Eagles win their first Superbowl. Weird No?
CNN’s Fareed Zakaria Interviews State Department Official Matthew Hoh Who Resigned In Protest Over Afghanistan War.
Hoh does a very good job describing the Afghan landscape and the logistical difficulties and pointlessness of the U.S. operations there when dealing with a unique region and culture.
